Signe Riisalo is the Minister of Social Protection of the Republic of Estonia from 26 January 2021. She is a member of the Estonian Reform Party.
Signe Riisalo was born on 8 October 1968 in Tallinn. She is a mother of a son and a daughter. Riisalo has been a member of the Estonian Reform Party since 1994.
Employment history and career
From 2019–2021, she was a member of the 14th Riigikogu, a member of the Riigikogu Study Committee to Solve the Demographic Crisis, and a member of the Social Affairs Committee.
From 1993–2019, she worked at the Ministry of Social Affairs.
From 1990–1993, she was the Assistant Adviser at the Government Office.
From 1987–1990, she was an Engineer at Eesti Maaehitusprojekt.
Signe Riisalo studied at the Faculty of Economics of the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute, also law at the University of Tartu and social work at Tallinn University. She has a bachelor's degree in social work from Tallinn University in 2017 and entered the master's program in social pedagogy and child protection at Tallinn University the same year.
